Dear Residents:
We have received the final results of water testing performed by our two Independent laboratories, Chem Aqua and Caduceon Environmental Laboratories, as well as the City of Ottawa test results.  All samples taken from 90 George show the water as safe and potable.  The water test results are posted in the elevators, and copies are available from the Front Desk.
Now that the lab results have been received showing the water as potable, please:
1. If you have not yet run your water through your taps, please do so for a few minutes;
2. Remove and rinse all kitchen and bathroom aerators;
3. Discard ice cubes that may have remained since last Tuesday, November 15th;
4. Run water through fridge water dispensers; and
5. Change the filters inside fridges.
NOTE: New fridge filters will be supplied to each residence as soon as we can have them available. We hope to have new filters available by the end of the week.
We also want to advise you on the circumstances that lead to this situation as well as what steps we have taken to ensure that it doesn’t happen again. We await final written reports from the various professionals involved in assisting with the resolution of this matter, and we will have further communication in this regard out to you as soon as it becomes available.
Our goal from the beginning has been the health and safety of each and every resident.  We understand this has been a very difficult and trying time for all.  Thank you again for your patience and cooperation.

Subject: Weekend Status on Water Issues
Dear Residents:

Unfortunately, we have not received all the test results on the water back from the City of Ottawa as of yet.  Although they have given us the all clear, they have advised that we won't have the test results in writing until Monday.  In order to ensure the absolute safety of all residents, the Board has decided to continue to advise residents to use bottled water for the time being.  The City has given us written assurance that we will have all their test results in writing Monday.

Until we have the City’s final written report:

1. We recommend that you DO NOT drink tap water, or let your pets drink the water at this time; drinking water is available at the Front Desk.

2. DO NOT use ice cubes or fridge door water dispensers.  Once notice is given that the water is safe, discard ice cubes, run water through water dispensers, and change the filters inside fridges. NOTE:  New fridge filters will be supplied to each residence as soon as we can have them available.

3. You may use your washing machine and dishwasher.  However we recommend if you have not already done so that you run your washing machine/dishwasher on a hot/cold empty cycle before using, including a cap full of chlorine bleach.

4. Tap water for the purposes of a shower or bath is considered safe.

We also wanted to advise you on the circumstances that led to this situation and on what steps we have taken to ensure it doesn’t happen again. We will have a communication in this regard out to you as soon as possible. We await final written reports from the various professionals involved in assisting with the resolution of the matter, and we will provide information soon as it becomes available.

Thank you again for your patience and cooperation.

Subject: Status on Water Issues - Thursday

Dear Residents:

The three water samples taken yesterday have tested clear in two independent labs and with the City.   We are just waiting for the City of Ottawa’s written report to clear the system as potable; this is expected by Friday November 18th.  However, until we have the City’s final written report:

We will be providing further information to you regarding the incident that occurred Tuesday affecting our water supply as it becomes available.

Subject: STATUS on Water Issues

Dear Residents:

As you are aware, the Heating Contractor Francis HVAC announced yesterday that there is currently an issue with the water in units not being drinkable.

Water samples were taken on several floors first thing this morning, and the water tested safe on-site, detecting no evidence of glycol. However, to be absolutely certain, we are currently awaiting the results of two lab tests for other contaminants – one from Chem-Aqua and one from WMC (Water Management Consultants Inc.).  As well, WMC will be on-site tomorrow morning, performing a sanitization of the water system by adding Chlorine at 1ppm (low enough to be safe for drinking and for clothing), and then flushing the chlorine out.  There may be minimal interruptions to the water supply between approximately 7:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

Therefore, until further notice, likely by end-of-day tomorrow or earlier, please:

1.    DO NOT drink the water, or let your pets drink the water; drinking water is available at the Front Desk.

2.    DO NOT use ice cubes or fridge door water dispensers.  Once notice is given that the water is safe, discard ice cubes, run water through water dispensers, and change the filters inside fridges.

3.    You may use your washing machines.  Run your washing machine on a hot/cold empty cycle before washing clothing, as sediments or contaminants which may have remained in the water line leading to the machine could affect clothing.

Subject: SECOND UPDATE - Water in Units

Dear Residents:

As announced yesterday by the Heating Contractor Francis HVAC, there is currently an issue with the water in units.  As instructed, water needed to be left running for approximately one hour, until it ran clear.  As Francis advised, WATER IS NOT POTABLE; drinking water is available at the Front Desk.

Until further notice, which will be sent as soon as possible upon advice from Francis HVAC, please:

1.    DO NOT drink the water, or let your pets drink the water, as it may contain sediments or chemical contaminants (to be determined today through water testing).

2.    DO NOT use washing machines.  When notice is given that the water is clean, run your washing machine on a hot/cold empty cycle before washing clothing, as sediments or contaminants which may have remained in the water line leading to the machine could affect clothing.

3.    DO NOT use ice cubes or fridge door water dispensers.  Once notice is given that the water is safe, discard ice cubes, run water through water dispensers, and change the filters inside fridges.
